Open wide - Karlee goes to the dentist

This is actually the second time Karlee has been to the dentist, the first time was a complete mess. Karlee wouldn't do anything the dental hygienist asked her to do. Karlee was nervous and didn't want anything to do with that day. So I really didn't have too high of expectations.

Karlee surprised me completely. She was a little hesitant at first, but after she began to feel comfortable it was just fine. They were able to clean her teeth, check for cavities (zero cavities - hooray!!!), and the whole time Karlee got to watch a movie on the TV screen in the ceiling.

Karlee got a balloon, a bag of goodies (toothbrush, floss, stickers, a brushing timer). She was a very happy girl as she left the dental office this time around.

So goodbye dentist until January!!!

Weekend up in Bear Lake with the Westons

We decided last minute to head to Bear Lake for the weekend and we were glad that we did. We had so much fun. One of the first things we noticed being up there was that the lake was super high, in fact its the highest that its been in probably 5-7 years. It was probably 10-20 yards from these houses backdoor. Unbelievable!!!

We started our day off with a round of Golf. Now this was my very first time playing golf. I had a BLAST!!! I wasn't very good, but hey for my first time and using Rob's clubs, I didn't do too bad.

Later that night we enjoyed a yummy BBQ and Smores! These Smores were huge! Rob and his dad Dan were both a MESS. - Love the pictures! Like Father, Like Son!

On the day we left Karlee woke up and discovered an old Karaoke machine, so for the next hour Karlee was completely entertained. She didn't even want to take time with getting dressed for the day.

Adventures in Babysitting...

My younger sister Monica and her oldest daughter Paige got tickets at Christmas time to fly up to Alaska and visit my older sister Kaye for 14 days. So I offered to watch her kids while she was gone. We had already moved out of our townhouse, so we opted to stay at my sisters house while she was gone and her husband was at work. We had some fun times, and the kids got along good for the majority of the time. There were however a few things I learned that week and a half.

Some of the things I learned were:

Silence isn't always peaceful (clean).

Just a few moments after my sister leaving Karlee took a tumble down my sisters steps. She tripped on the top step and tumbled all the way down, landing on the floor. Poor Karlee! but she was okay! After the tears, I sent the girls outside, I went about to do my sisters dishes (haha!). As I looked out the window to the backyard, I thought the girls were playing so nice together. Somewhat of a rarity with two 3 yr olds. When I took a closer look the girls were covered in mud! WHAT!!!! So I took them over to the hose and told them that they now had to get cleaned off with the water. Karlee looked fearful, while Sadie gave me the look of "Oh goodie!!!!" So my threat wasn't really anything that would make them not want to ever play in the mud.

Never underestimate a 3 1/2 year old!

The first day was a bit rough to say the least. So after awhile we went outside to enjoy the weather. While outside Karlee and Sadie had some sort of disagreement. Sadie started walking down the street. As I watched and encouraged her to come back, she just ignored me. I figured she surely wouldn't go too far, but I was wrong. Sadie walked and kept walking... I started walking to catch up with her. She did not stop, so after walking almost 1.25miles, I was able to talk her into coming back. The dumb thing of this all is that I had 2 inch sandals on the entire walk, so when we turned around and walked the 1.25 miles back I had 2 amazing blisters on both my feet.

Outside distractions are a Blessing!

We opted many days to go and do things outside. One day we went to the park, and had a yummy lunch and then the kids played on the playground for most of the afternoon. One day we met up with my sister-in-law Holly at the Zoo (forgot my picture in the car). We rode bikes up and down the street, and went to a morning kids movie at the theatre.

I think that the one thing I learned above all else is that all of you out there that have more than 1 kid. . . you are AMAZING!!! I was so tired everyday! I got a huge taste of what my sister gets to enjoy on a daily basis, and I am amazed at how much energy and patience she has. I was really excited to see my sister come home from her trip, and to know that I got to go back to my simple simple lazy life!

Hogle Zoo and Cousins

Holly (Rob's sister) got a pass at Hogle Zoo so we were invited to go with them. Karlee had so much fun. As you can see in this post there are no pictures of live animals, that's because I had to carry this little stinker the whole time. Her dad spoils her and carries her everywhere we go, and so when he is not around, she expects to be carried. So mom didn't feel like pulling out my camera and take pictures.haha. I did however take the camera out when everyone went on the carousel (carousels and me do not mix well). Karlee had a blast riding around and around. She insisted that she got to ride on Poh (kung fu panda).

Clive Worthen Reunion 2011

Aunts, Uncles, Moms, Dads, and cousins

Over the Memorial Day holiday we drove to Ferron Utah to participate in my late grandpa Clive Worthen reunion. It was really a special day. We heard many stories about my ancestors.

My dad has caught the Genealogy bug and has done a lot of research. He prepared for everyone there a family pedigree chart of our ancestors on my dads side. It was really interesting and loved hearing the stories.

As it was Memorial Day we rolled up our sleeves, and got our scrub brushes and cleaning rags, and cleaned the headstones of our ancestors. It was neat to be able to walk through the Ferron Cemetery and see so many ancestors.

This year my Aunt Tanie (my dad's older sister) retired from teaching. So we combined the Clive Worthen Reunion with a Retirement Party for her. It was really a lot of fun. It was a surprise party and I think for the first time my aunt Tanie really was surprised. The family all came together and bought her a luggage as she has a couple of trips planned for the early fall.

Leigh (my cousin Anthony's wife) made this adorable cake!
