Our Adventure: Bowling with 3 yr olds

What do you do when you have two 3 year olds on a Friday night? You take them bowling, right? Umm sure thats what you do. We got to watch my sisters little girl (Sadie) while they took their oldest two to into Salt Lake for a couple of hours. So we took them bowling. Rob loves to bowl (he even has his own shoes, and superman bowling ball), he is pretty good, I on the other hand am pretty awful. This night it didn't matter (again like every other time I bowl) we were just going to let the girls have fun. And fun they did have.

Karlee loved to roll that ball down the lane, She just hated that she had to wait and watch 3 other people go before it was her turn again. Yep she is 3 years old. Love it!

Our niece Sadie, again loved rolling the ball, not so much the waiting for her turn again. haha.

Here is the final score! Rob 127 - Karlee 74 - Sadie 91 - Heather 66. Yep you probably don't want me joining your bowling league. Fun night though.

Our Easter

We started our Easter morning getting ready for our 9:00am church meetings. Once ready we walked out and Karlee got to see what the Easter bunny had left for her. She was really excited about it. She asked us if it was her Birthday!, ya we told her a couple of times that no it was Easter. Then she asked if all the stuff in her basket was for her. Funny Kid! Karlee got some flip flops, a little outfit, the Candy Land game, and lots of chocolate (of which Rob has been and will continue to enjoy). We had an enjoyable day with family. After church we stopped by my sister Monica's home to visit. We watched the video: Reflections of Christ. This is such a powerful short video, that made today very special.

We went to Rob's parents home, and had a yummy dinner with family. Karlee loved hanging out with her Aunt Sally, and playing with her grandma out on the trampoline. When we got home Rob and I watched a short little video that was on Christ and the meaning for Easter, His Sacred Name - An Easter Declaration. I loved how this video was made with powerful words that described our Saviour and what he did for each of us. I was so impressed that I wanted to write them down, and have decided that I would add them to this post.

Easter Eggstreme 2011

We took Karlee to Thanksgiving Point this year for their "Easter 'Eggs'treme", it was a bit colder than we had liked, but nothing too bad, that we didn't have fun. There were so many things for Karlee to do. We started off with the Easter Egg Grab (ages 0-3). This was crazy as expected, but Karlee had a good time and loved chasing all the other kids to get their eggs.

Karlee went on the "Cow Train". She wasn't sure at first, as she had her fingers in her ears in preparation for the sound of the tractor (wasn't loud at all.haha.) About 1/2 way through the ride, Karlee was all smiles. She Loved this ride.

It was then time to wander over to the Farm Country, Karlee was able to feed dried corn kernels to the pigs, chickens, and ducks. She even got to go on a pony ride. She was a bit hesitant on this, and it did take some coaxing to get her to sit on the pony. Rob walked along side of her, but by the last round Karlee was hands free and loving being on a pony. After the ride, we took a short horse pulled wagon ride and then spent a couple minutes playing in the "Utah Territorial Jail". Super Fun!

We had to stop and "Smell the Tulips" so it was worth another photo. These flowers were beautiful. Tulips are my favorite!

When we walked into the park, Karlee saw the bounce houses, and got so excited. I think this was her first experience in a bounce house. She is 3yrs old, is that sad that this was probably her first time.haha. She had a blast, and did better than we expected. There was a moment that got a little crazy, when a bunch of older kids started to charge through, and Karlee got stuck on the bottom. I think I got a little more panicked than she did - she handled it like a champ.


Our last ride before leaving was a barrel wagon ride. This ride was a lot of fun. We went all over the Electric park lawn. We rode around all the activities, and Karlee was "Yes" in heaven. Thought this picture was really cute of Karlee and her dad!

On our way home we stopped and did a few errands, which involved Costco. While I was looking at something, Rob and Karlee found me with this ginormous brown cuddly bear in the cart. It was Love and first sight for Karlee, who would wrap his arms around her, and just sink down into his cuddly body. We had people stopping us telling us that we were not going to be leaving Costco without purchasing this bear. Well we did leave Costco without the bear, and Karlee did better than we thought or anticipated. Really what would we do with such a big bear in our little home - that's what I had to keep telling Rob. I was glad that I had my camera, so that I could capture this picture.

Potty Training in PROGRESS

Let me just say that Potty Training has not been a real success story in our fairytale book of life around here. It has been a longtime in the making, but I think that we may be making some progress. I know that potty training doesn't happen overnight (darn!), but with baby steps. Karlee is doing good for the the most part, she is so darn cute. And yes accidents are still happening (not as frequently as the first couple of days), but its Karlee's reactions to all the accidents that have become some of the best parts of this adventure.

When Karlee does have an accident, she will cover her eyes with her hands, say she is sorry, and then here comes the best part. She starts flowering me with compliments: "Mom, I love your hair, you are so beautiful, Your eyes are so brown, I LOVE YOU, you are my best friend, I love your shoes, etc....." So ya its a daily adventure at our home right now.

A Guilty Pleasure

I will just say that I am sure Rob is so glad that I have finally finished the Prison Break Seasons (1-4). Its taken me awhile, but probably not as long as it should have (maybe feeling a little guilty about that.haha). About a month ago we tried Netflix on a free trial. This is when I started watching Prison Break. This show sucked me right in. It was so intriguing. I say that its a guilty pleasure, because it was so addicting. I loved each season, and was on the edge of my seat, and with goosebumps up and down my arms while watching most episodes (79 to be exact). Warning: There were times that I had to cover my eyes because there was some violence. I stayed up late (late) watching these episodes. There was a great storyline throughout all of 4 seasons. I think that season 1 and 2 were my favorites, Season 3 was a little tough to get through - but I think that they did a great job tying all the loose ends up in Season 4. The ending I thought was both good and sad, and I will leave it at that - for anyone who would want to watch them all. I am not sure why I had never seen or even heard of this show before - but actually I am glad that I was able to watch all the season so quickly - it would have probably killed me with all the open-ended episodes. Anyways so ya a guilty pleasure that I would probably love to watch again - I will give Rob a break for now. haha.

I would recommend Prison Break to anyone except my mom. :)

Sunday Naps

We Love Sunday naps around our house. Could anything be better? We don't think so.

This past Sunday Rob was asleep on the couch, when I went to look for Karlee this is what I found. She must have been tired too, she had climbed up onto her bed and took a long Sunday nap.

A Girlie Tea Party

Karlee had her 1st "Springtime" Tea Party. She was invited along with a few other girls (3-4yrs old) in our ward to attend this 'girlie' tea party. Each girl was asked to wear something frillie, and bring their own tea cup. Karlee got to bring a tray of yummy fruit. She was really excited about this party and to be able to play with all the other little girls.

After a yummy lunch all the girls got to go outside and hunt for Easter eggs. All the girls looked like they were having a fun time.

Spring Cleaning - Bring on the tears!

Journal Entry: (this may be one of those "had to be there moments" but I wanted to journal it.)

A couple weeks ago we were getting ready for our Quarterly Inspections (the townhouses we live in have these so that they can check for damages). I honestly don't mind them, as they are a good motivator to do a good deep clean. Perfect time with it being Spring (not according to the weather - oh well), and so yes I used it as a good way to motivate me to get started on my Spring Cleaning!!!

This time I got Rob involved in it - yay me! We attacked the garage, and almost every room in our house. For those who know and love me (haha), know that I throw out or donate stuff all the time. I attribute that to not having my own home yet, and living in limited space. I am also not typically sentimental to things, the thoughts of just storing things makes me want to cringe, and I just don't like clutter. Rob and I are opposites on a few of these things. However I was glad that I was able to get him on board, with de-cluttering. yay!!!

Once we had all our "donating treasures" - we piled them all into Robs truck and headed to the D.I. At the D.I. I tried to keep Karlee distracted inside the truck and not with all the things that were being taken out of the truck to be donated. Karlee takes after her dad and is quite sentimental with "things". I failed miserably, the minute Karlee saw that Rob and the workers were taking our "treasures", Karlee started yelling and crying - saying that they were taking our stuff. I told her that it was okay and that we didn't want the stuff anymore, she was pretty devastated. I didn't have my camera, but then again, it probably would have been cruel to post a picture of Karlee so devastated. Rob did take her to go and get an ice cream cone, and that seemed to do the trick.

Lets Go Fly a Kite

Karlee has had such a fascination with kites, we were driving home one day and we saw people out flying their kites. Karlee has talked about doing that off and on (okay nonstop) for the past week. One day last week we had Rob home from work - made her day by getting her kite out. The weather cooperated as well with providing the much needed wind. Rob got the kite going and then handed it off to Karlee, she was in heaven and a pretty good little kite flyer at that. Both Karlee and her dad had fun until Rob flew the kite into the tree and that's where the kite flying ended. And I don't think the Kite survived (good thing Walmart sells $1.00 kites).

Time for another Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Me!

At the beginning of April I celebrated another birthday. Ya they just seem to keep coming. Honestly I don't mind birthdays, I enjoy a day or two to celebrate something fun. This year was a fun birthday. Rob had worked inventory the night before, so he was home for my day. However he had had no sleep, so he was somewhat of a zombie - yet not too bad. We decided to take Karlee to the Hogle Zoo to see all the animals. We had fun, the weather was BEAUTIFUL (unlike so many days before and after). So we lucked out.

Karlee loved climbing into the egg, and thought it was a pretty great place to play hide and seek!

At the end of the day my sister Monica invited us over for crepes. They were super yummy. Crepes have always been a tradition in my family on birthdays. We usually eat them for breakfast. It was really nice of my sister to make these for me. Yumm-o.

Being married to Rob has its advantages when it comes to celebrating ones birthday. If you know Rob, you know that he loves his birthday - so much so that we celebrate all month long. So I was able to spread the celebrating throughout the weekend. We went over to Rob's parents house on Sunday to celebrate my birthday. Here is my yummy birthday cake. Ya its chocolate! I actually made a chocolate cake for my birthday (why didn't Rob make it? He was out playing 7 hours of golf - whole other story). I know I don't even eat Chocolate, but I knew Rob and his family would probably prefer the chocolate cake, and since I really am not a cake eater, I thought it would work for my birthday.
