Whats been going on?

So its the end of January and I haven't posted much, probably because lets me honest not much has been going on. But here are the highlights of our past week.

Karlee went to the dentist, and did AMAZING!!! Infact on the way to the dentist she was singing: 'I am going to the dentist - I am going to the dentist - yahoo!'. I was just hoping that all would go well and that she would let them clean her teeth.Ya just never know how it really will go. Last time she went to the denstist she let them clean her teeth, but she wasn't real sure about the xrays. This time she was excited about it all. She did GREAT!!!!

Thursday last week Rob asked me if I could make a cake for him to take to work Friday for a work potluck lunch. One of Rob's co-workers was leaving for a hip replacement surgery. I thought sure I can make a cake - then Rob added 'Oh can you put a turtle and a fish on there?' What? Rob said that his co-worker is nicknamed 'turtle' and he likes to fish. So I got busy....

And to round off our week - Karlee and I have been playing a few games online. We have been on ABCya.com, starfall.com, and the LDS Friend magazine. I think her favorite has been the 'hidden pictures' on the Childrens Friend. (Which really is pretty fun!).

Rob has been reading...reading... and reading. He got the last book of the Eragon series for Christmas and so he has been enjoying every chance he gets to read.

So thats whats been going on here. Maybe February will be filled with more things - Lets hope!

Chinese New Year - Year of the Dragon

I have never thought much about Chinese New Year. All though if I have I have tried to make chinese food, yummy! Thought about doing it this year but didn't - its just not the same when you don't live in your own home. ugh!  My aunt made something super yummy and had it on her amazing blog: Simply So Good. Serisously she makes the most yummy food. Look what she has posted. I am totally going to make this - like I mentioned just didn't happen today.

At the end of her post she asked what Chinese Zodiac sign you were so I thought it would be fun to post our Chinese Zodiac signs. This year is the year of the Dragon. No dragons in our family!

Characteristics: Lucky, flexible, eccentric, imaginative, artistic, spiritual, charismatic

Here is the breakdown:

Rob is the Snake
Characteristics: Philosophical, organized, intelligent, intuitive, elegant, attentive, decisive

This really makes me laugh because Rob is not, so not organized and elegant (?) um ya not sure about that.haha. Rob is very smart so definately intelligent not sure philosophical, he is decisive, somewhat intuitive. If he is anything he is totally attentive. He gives Karlee 100% of his attention and she just eats it up.  

Heather is the Rabbit
Characteristics: Trustworthy, empathic, modest, diplomatic, sincere, sociable, caretakers

I asked Rob about my zodiac characteristic because lets be honest I didnt want to sound like I was boasting about myself.haha. Rob said that I really had a lot of the characteristics of the Rabbit, except the sociable, and diplomatic. haha. I would agree - I love to be around friends, but in larger group settings that where I hide in my shell.

Karlee is the Rat
Characteristics: Intelligent, adaptable, quick-witted, charming, artistic, sociable

Karlee is definately a RAT. haha. She is intelligent - super smart, Adaptable for sure - case in point - we have taken everything that she knows, all her belongings and put them in storage while we moved in with Robs parents. What a sweetheart! She is very sociable, and has really started to blossom!

Cousin Fun and the Flu

Karlee and I rode down with my sister Monica and her kiddos to Spanish Fork to visit with my parents (who were watching my brothers kids for the weekend). We drove through a winter storm - but totally worth it. The kids had so much fun.

Karlee loves loves her cousins. She is super lucky to live so close to most of her cousins. Unfortunately my brother Troys kids were sick with the flu, and couldn't come over to play.

Its really fun that whenever all the cousins get together my mom gets a group picture. What fun memories these kids are making. These kids all had so much fun with their grandma and their papa. These kids play for hours, and then it was time to go home. :(

The next day Karlee and I had a few errands to run around town. As we got home Karlee told me that she didn't feel good and that she was going to throw up. Great. Yep Karlee caught the dreaded stomach flu - poor girl. She was sick most of the night then felt good in the morning. Then it was my turn - WONDERFUL - I was down and out for a whole day. - Crazy thing is that 14 of our family members came down with the stomach flu within 3 days. INSANE

Karlee and her cousin Sadie enjoyed some quality time outside enjoying the wonderfully warm January weather. Karlee and Sadie started putting sticks into what was left of a well made snowman. Look at these artists. :)

Ringing in the New Year

This year we rang in the New Year at my sister Monica's home. It was again a super fun evening full of lots of yummy food, great company and this year we added UGLY sweaters. Let me just say there were some doozies. This is always such a fun night, and has become quite a fun family tradition to get together and exchange gifts, eat yummy food, and play lots of fun games.

Okay so if I had to give my 2 cents. . .  Hayley (mother goose sweater) and Segi (bright with delightful fringes) were the top winners! These sweaters were really some winners!

This is a fun night as we do our Family Christmas gift exchange! Karlee loved being able to watch everyone open their gifts, and then it was her turn. She got some darling Disney Princess dolls from her cousin.

This night is full of yummy food, and lots of fun exciting games. My family LOVES to play games! Everyone plays games: the kids played a fun game called Headbandz (super cute 20 questions game), we played the following games trigger, jungle speed, and Joe Name It.

Okay so I really had to add this picture of Rob asleep in this post, as it makes me laugh because this is usually me (asleep on new years eve). But this year looks like Rob was the one who couldnt make it to midnight! Let me just add that I stayed awake the entire night!!!!
