Karlee Updates

So with the month almost to an end, I thought I would do a Karlee Update. In the beginning of this month Karlee turned 2 years old. She really is getting so big, starting to form sentences, dictate what she will and will not do. Karlee has been sick most of the month due to a "2yr olf molar coming through. She has loved going to nursery and learned the "clean up" song. Here are just some highlights (and maybe not so 'high'-lights):
Doctor Appointment:

Karlee got to go to the doctor for her 2 year old shots (singular). Which is always such a joy. This girl really does not do doctors, infact she gets really clingy the minute we walk in the door, and sign in. Karlee starts to cry when the nurses come in and call her name, and pretty much doesn't stop crying until we leave. Yep she cries (screams) when the nurses weigh and measure her. She will stop a bit while we wait for the doctor to come into the room, once he comes in she starts back up and cries while he is trying to talk to her, and check her over. So going to the doctor is a real treat! Glad that now its only yearly and on an as need basis. So for stats: Karlee weighs 24 lbs. (took 8 months to gain 4lbs) She is measuring 34 inches tall. I guess thats pretty much on the "normal" growing scale, according to the doctor.

SpongeBob:

Really I have no idea where this obsession has come from (no... I really do, thanks Rob), but Karlee is OBSESSED with SpongeBob. Karlee has literally over night become one of "those" kids that have their eyes glued to the TV screen. It hasn't helped that she has been sick for the past two weeks, and so whatever will make her stop crying is what we give to or should I say give into her. (I know I am probably just as much to blame now!) Rob has 2 dvd's of SpongeBob, and never in a million years would I have thought that Karlee would want to watch SpongeBob over all the classic Disney cartoons. Honestly it is pretty sad! Karlee comes up to me and with her head tilted to the side, and those little brown eyes sparkling, and say "SpongeBob?". Whatelse can you do, seriously! To be honest, I am in hopes that she overdoses on these two dvd's so that we don't have to watch SpongeBob in later months/years - with Rob? - I am sure this is a lost cause.

Names:

Karlee for the past 2 months has been very interested in her cousins, and their names. She loves to say their names, and look at their pictures (in our kitchen). She usually starts out like this:

Abbey (Abeyeeee), Austin (Austinnnnn), Taylor (Taylorrrrr),

Paige, Trenton, Sadie (Sadieeee),

Teni (Tenieee), Alyia, Jordyn (Jordynnnnnn),

Malia, Tyler (Ty),

Cody (Codyeeeee), Bo (BoBo)

She will do this a couple times a day, at home, especially loves to do this in the car. What a cutie!

Thankful Thursday #7 - Modern Medicine

I am thankful for Modern Medicine.

For the past week and a half Karlee has been sick. We started off with high fevers, and then got the runny nose, and then my personal favorite: throwing up!!! yay!. All Karlee wanted was to be held. (honestly I love when she wants to be held, cause it really doesn't happen all to often.) Rob and I thought it would go away in a couple of days, we are on day, I don't know, I have lost count. We discovered after looking in her mouth that she is getting a molar. OUCH!!! This little molar sure is taking its sweet time getting here. We have been giving her Tylenol, and ibuprofen to dull the (what I can only imagine) constant pain. Poor thing. I can't even begin to imagine not having this medicine to give to her - poor girl. So thank you to all those scientist and doctors that work daily to find new ways to give us comfort.

We are hoping that any day our sweet Karlee will return to us. For now we are doing the best we can to give in without giving in. (if that makes sense).

Thankful Thursday #6 - my Mother

I am thankful for my wonderful, beautiful mother, today is her birthday. What a great opportunity to express why I am thankful for such an amazing person in my life. I must have done something good in heaven to have such an angel for my mother. I honestly have an amazing mother. She is such a thoughtful and sweet woman. Such an example of someone living a Christ like life. An example of her Christ-like life is when she got home from being away for 2 weeks up with my sister and her new baby, I went to pick her up from her shuttle. She had been up since 2 am (her time), and undoubtedly exhausted, only to drive 3 hours back home. We stopped to visit a friend who had been injured, and hospitalized before driving home, then on her way home she stopped in Kanab to visit a woman that she visit teaches. She always is thinking of others. She is a wonderful teacher, of the gospel and of life. Throughout my life there have been many times that I have been able to call her up and tell her my exciting news, and my trials, and she always has an eternal perspective. I love her, and I am so proud that she is my mom.

Our Valentine's Day

So we had a really nice Valentines day. It really isn't a super big day at house, but we try to make it a little funner than all the other normal days. I started back a couple weeks ago and decided that I wanted to make these adorable bags for Valentines day that I saw out in the blog world. I luckily had all the materials, but the red felt (which I got cheap with a coupon - of course.lol.) So I began cutting and sewing my little heart out. I made a bag for each of us. I think they are so darn cute just hanging on the back of the chair like that. Both Rob and Karlee think they are pretty cute too, so that makes me feel good. Karlee got in her little bag a couple Hershey Kisses, and a little pink shirt for when the weather gets warmer. Rob found some kisses in his bag. We hope everyone had a very special Valentines Day!

Thankful Thursday #5 - Beautiful warm weather

Today I am thankful the beginning of beautiful warm weather. After Rob got off work we took Karlee up to a park and enjoyed the warm 56º weather. We had a wonderful time. Honestly in my opinion it is time for warmer weather. Karlee had so much fun. Here are some pictures of our time spent at the park. I can't wait to spend more days at the many parks we live so close to.

Birthday Wishes

Karlee turned 2 years old today! We had a really fun day. When she woke up we asked her how old she was and she said " I "two"". What a little smartie! (we really haven't practiced with her too much, gosh she is just too smart. ha ha ha.) Rob has a tradition from his childhood, of his mom telling him on his birthday his birth story. So Rob carried this on with Karlee, it was a sweet retelling and I never tire of hearing about our miracle. Karlee thought it was pretty cute too. We headed off to church where her little nursery class sang happy birthday to her, Karlee thought that was pretty cool.

Karlee shared her birthday with the Superbowl this year so we thought it would be fun to do a "powder puff football" birthday cake. When I was decorating the cake, she got so excited and was saying "Karlee's cake, Karlee's cake". We ate all of Karlee's favorite foods: hot dogs, pasta (salad), cheese (cheese dip) and chips. We had a fun little party, ate cake and opened presents.

Karlee's Great grandparents sent her this adorable card. It has Elmo on it and a $2 dollar bill inside. Such a cute idea for a 2 year old. Karlee got some fun birthday gifts from everyone, Thanks!

Thank you so much to everyone for remembering her on her special day. She loved talking to everyone on the phone and hearing everyone sing Happy Birthday to her.

Thankful Thursday #4 - Journaling/Blogging

I am thankful for my blog, and journalling.

When I was told about blogging a couple of years ago, my first thought was, why would anyone want to read about me and my family?. Other thoughts were: My life isn't interesting, Nothing exciting ever happens to me?, etc. But I thought well what the heck I will try it out. Okay so I was instantly addicted. I love being able to record the big and small moments of our family's lives. I am excited to turn my blog into a book, so that I can have a hard copy for my home and for my family.

One of our beloved church prophets, Spencer W. Kimbal, encouraged us to all keep a journal. I have a quote that I have kept in my scriptures that helps me to remember to keep a current journal. I found where the qoute was, you can read it here. Something that I thought that was remarkable is that at the time President Kimbal was called to be the prophet he had 33 journals in black binders. AMAZING!

I love journaling and know the importance of writing things down, and for this I am thankful.
