Hiking Thousand Pockets {Incredible}

Like I mentioned in our last post my dad and I hiked 'Thousand Pockets'. This hike is really a fun, beautiful hike. Thousand Pockets is roughly 20 minutes outside of Page. Infact you can see Page off in the distance once you get to the pockets. I would do this hike again! I enjoyed the hike so much that Rob said that he would like to go to the pockets the next time he comes to Page. Yahoo!!!

Thousand Pockets

Okay so why the name 'Thousand Pockets'? The sandstone has been transformed from wind and water into big and little pockets. The cool thing is that when it rains these pockets fill up with water. Here are some of the cool pictures that my dad took.
Love this pocket - look how deep

Pocket full of water with thin layer of ice!

Since it is January we were expecting to see some ice - possibly some iced over pockets. And we were not dissappointed - there were some pockets that had ice 3/4 inch thick. The weather however was beautiful (warm). The only time that we got cold (just our hands) was when we hiked up to a higher peak to find a geo cache.

Look at the ice! Awesome!

the thick ice was cool to see.

So the hike was good hike - the area was beautiful - but the best part of the hike was the company. I love hiking with my dad. This hike was fun because it was just him and I. It was fun to just walk and talk. My dad is someone that I admire and love so much. Thanks for the invite! Can't wait for the next hike.

That looks really cool. What a great way to spend the day - childless, haha.
