Our GREAT Trek out WEST.
Wow what a trip. I am exhausted. We headed out on our journey Monday expecting to make it a 3 day adventure. The trip did not start out as well as we had hoped. We rented a Budget Truck and Car Trailer. Rob drove the truck and trailer and I followed him in my car. The car trailer was not working well either. Rob called it the "Death-Mobile", which actually earned its name the longer we were on the road. For every bump in the road the trailer would cause the truck and trailer to fish tail. Causing me to STRESS out dramatically. Ya So I think I saw Rob almost tip over 3 times. When we finally made it to St. Louis, MO (only after it taking 2 hours longer), we were able to trade out the car trailer for a car Dolley. Which improved the trip somewhat. Still every bump on the road made the truck and trailer toss back and forth.
(Still on the Road, somewhere in Texas or New Mexico...
I am probably praying that the budget truck stays on all fours)
So our Trip too 4 long days, long hours on the road, and lots of gas. My parents live about 3 hours away from our home, so we stopped for the night and spent a good portion of the day with them, before ending our journey. We both hated to get back on the road after visiting my parents.
(At my parents home... Picture taking in front of the "Death-Mobile" This was a much needed break from all that traveling)
After 4 days on the road, we finally made our destination. We were so blessed to have made it. Our town home is very spacious, and so all our belongings (& junk) fit well. The only negative to our home is that the kitchen is probably the smallest that I have ever lived with, so this could make cooking somewhat of a challenge if not non existent...(probably not if you know my husband.)
(we made it... but Rob's work wasn't done yet
what with all the moving in- YUCK)

I know what you mean! Luckily pregancy was in my favor at the time of our move and my home town was much closer, so I got to fly out for a baby shower while chris and his dad moved everything for us. Had I not been pregnant I would have moved right along with them. I hate packing and unpacking to move it's not too fun. I about 6 months we will be doing it again and this time we have a baby!! Yikes!! We will most likely stay in the west. Right now christian is looking into a small town in New Mexico, Farmington(4 corners area, looks like we will be pretty close to you of we do. You need to post pictures of your new house. Also give me your address so I can you so something when your little girl arrives! I am soooo excited for you!! I think you should have my email, if not let me know. Gina
Heather!!! I am so glad that you made it ok, and that the death-mobile didn't take someone's life! Thanks for the update. We miss you guys! We wish that you were still in KY. :( The west is nice, eh?
I'm so glad to hear you made it!! What a crazy and scary drive! I am not really looking forward to that part of our move! Good luck settling in and have a wonderful Christmas!!
Glad that ya'll made it safe. I watched our trailer tip on just two wheels a couple of times on our way out here. I remember thinking that I was about to see the end of my husband and all of our belongings. I'm not looking forward to our move back. We will miss ya'll. Atleast we have Blogging!!
Yeah! You made it. I had to laugh seeing your US map with the route drawn, as that is the EXACT route, up til Flagstaff, that we took. It was a long, scary ride with way too many semi-trucks. Next time (hopefully you won't have a next time) rent a Penske. We had no problems, in terms of the truck. And everyone that I've heard who has used Budget or Uhaul has a nightmare of a story to tell. I am so going to miss seeing you guys. Keep posting! Even if it is for dumb stuff!
I bet you guys are so glad to be together after the months of separation. I am so happy for you guys starting a new beginning out west. We wish you the best of luck!
